 About SMI Automotive Service

St. Matthews Import Service, Inc. was started in 1969 by two brothers who decided to start their own business repairing and servicing Volkswagens. Their success in the automotive repair industry grew quickly, establishing a reputation as the city’s top choice for high-quality repair. After several years of working in the industry, they decided to retire.

They approached me and asked if I was interested in owning the shop. I had previously worked for the company and had a great relationship with the owners. They advised that it was my credentials and great business practices that they felt I would take care of what they started. After going back and forth with the idea of ownership, I accepted the offer.

Today, more than 50 years later, SMI Automotive Service is proud to be the go-to shop for drivers throughout the Louisville area. We continue to be a professional, reliable company and are here to help you no matter how big or small the issue is.
